According to recent data from the State Statistics Agency in Uzbekistan, the number of enterprises with foreign capital in the country has been steadily increasing. As of September 1, there were a total of 14,562 such companies operating in Uzbekistan, with over 680 new companies established in just the past two months.
Of these, Russian investors are leading the way with 3,006 joint ventures and subsidiaries. While this number continues to grow, the increase over the past year has been relatively modest, with just 157 new companies added. On the other hand, Chinese investors have been increasingly active, with a total of 2,982 companies in Uzbekistan – a growth of over 1,000 new companies in the last year.
Turkey, Kazakhstan, and South Korea are also among the top countries investing in Uzbekistan, with significant numbers of companies operating in the country. However, the number of South Korean firms has decreased slightly over the past year.
The capital city, Tashkent, remains the hub for foreign investment in Uzbekistan, with nearly two-thirds of all foreign-owned companies registered there. However, regions such as Tashkent, Samarkand, and Fergana are also seeing significant numbers of foreign investments.
In terms of industries, trade is the leading sector for foreign investments, followed by manufacturing, construction, and IT. With the continued growth of foreign investment in Uzbekistan, the country’s economy is poised for further development and expansion in the coming years.
