China’s President Xi Jinping meets with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim
President Xi Jinping and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim held talks on April 16 at Seri Perdana in Putrajaya, Malaysia. The meeting was marked by a warm welcome from the Malaysian side, with youth waving flags and performing traditional dances to honor their esteemed guest.
During the talks, President Xi emphasized the long-standing friendship between China and Malaysia, highlighting the need for continued cooperation and mutual benefit. He proposed a three-point plan to strengthen bilateral ties, focusing on strategic independence, development cooperation, and inter-civilizational exchanges.
Prime Minister Anwar expressed gratitude for China’s support and friendship, pledging to deepen strategic communication, expand trade, and enhance people-to-people exchanges. Malaysia reaffirmed its commitment to the one-China policy and expressed readiness to work closely with China on various fronts.
Following the discussions, over 30 bilateral cooperation documents were signed, covering a wide range of areas such as global initiatives, dialogue between civilizations, and trade partnerships. The two leaders also issued a Joint Statement on building a high-level strategic China-Malaysia community with a shared future.
The visit concluded with a welcoming dinner hosted by Prime Minister Anwar, showcasing the strong bonds between China and Malaysia. The successful outcome of the talks underscored the commitment of both countries to mutual prosperity and regional stability.
