Chinese Company Chosen as General Contractor for Bypass Road Reconstruction

China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) awarded contract for reconstruction of key highways in Kyrgyzstan
Bishkek – China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) has been selected as the general contractor for the reconstruction of two important highways in Kyrgyzstan. The first project is the Almaty-Bishkek-Tashkent highway, specifically the Bishkek northern bypass road, on the section from the 230.7th to the 255th kilometer. The second project is the Bishkek-Balykchy-Naryn-Torugart highway, on the section from the 0th to the 9.1st kilometer. The decision to award the contract was signed by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Adylbek Kasymaliev.
The reconstruction work will involve combining the construction and design processes, known as parallel design. The Ministry of Finance has been tasked with ensuring funding for the project from the republican budget. Additionally, the State Agency for Architecture, Construction, Housing and Public Utilities will provide support to expedite the necessary procedures for the reconstruction of the roads.
President Sadyr Japarov had previously instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to select a general contractor for the project. Vice Mayor of Bishkek, Zhamalbek Yrsaliev, reported that the capital’s bypass road will be expanded to six lanes as part of the reconstruction project. The area has already been cleared of coal and timber sales points that previously occupied the road.
Road works are scheduled to commence in the spring and are expected to be completed by the fall. This infrastructure development project aims to improve connectivity and transportation efficiency in Kyrgyzstan.
