Chinese Company to Supply 183 Modern Buses to Almalyk and Termez

Zhongtong Bus Holdings, a Chinese company, is gearing up to deliver multiple batches of buses to various cities in Uzbekistan. The Ministry of Transport is also in talks to streamline credit procedures for transport procurement in different regions.

A meeting was held on February 19 between First Deputy Minister Mamanbiy Omarov and Zhongtong Bus Holdings, with representatives from the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and the insurance company Sinosure in attendance. The focus of the meeting was on financing initiatives for acquiring public transport vehicles in Tashkent, Almalyk, and Termez to enhance urban transportation services. Discussions also involved simplifying credit and leasing processes for bus deliveries in other regions.

Olmaliq Trans Service is looking to purchase 83 buses, while Termiztransporthizmat expects delivery of another 100 buses. Additionally, Toshshahartranshizmat recently announced the results of a tender for 200 electric buses and charging stations in the capital. Yutong Bus Co. Ltd. emerged as the winner among three Chinese companies that participated in the competition.

In related news, Spanish company UNVI is planning to establish bus production and convert Mercedes buses into electric vehicles in Uzbekistan.
