Bakyt Torobaev Explores Textile Industry in China for Potential Cooperation

Bishkek – On June 29, 2024, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan, Bakyt Torobaev, visited enterprises in the textile industry in Aksu, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China. The aim of the visit was to explore potential cooperation opportunities between Kyrgyzstan and Chinese textile companies.

During his visit, Bakyt Torobaev met with the General Director of the textile company Huafu, Lu Li. He proposed sending leading specialists from the company to Kyrgyzstan to share their expertise on modern equipment and new technologies in the textile industry. Lu Li expressed interest in collaboration and exchanging experiences with Kyrgyzstan.

Further, Bakyt Torobaev visited the textile company Jiatai where he discussed the possibility of building a fiber processing plant in Kyrgyzstan, utilizing cotton produced in Osh, Jalal-Abad, and Batken regions. Jiatai Chairman Yao Ruipeng expressed support for the proposal and willingness to invest in the processing plant if suitable raw materials and infrastructure are provided.

Additionally, Bakyt Torobaev met with the general director of Uoulian textile company, Cheng Shihua, to explore the potential of exporting fabrics to Kyrgyzstan in large volumes. Given Kyrgyzstan’s developed garment industry that employs 200,000 people, there was a discussion about the direct purchase of fabrics by local entrepreneurs, bypassing intermediaries.

The visit to Chinese textile companies was aimed at fostering collaboration and enhancing the textile industry in Kyrgyzstan by leveraging the expertise and resources available in China. The discussions and agreements made during the visit hold promise for the development of the textile sector in Kyrgyzstan and strengthening ties with Chinese partners.
