Chinese Firm Set to Invest $25 Million in Construction Material Factory in Fergana
Shandong Weida Construction Machinery Co. Ltd., a leading Chinese company, is making significant strides in expanding its operations by investing $25 million in a new construction materials production facility in Uzbekistan’s Fergana region. The company’s latest venture will see the establishment of a plant in the Dangara district, specializing in the production of gas blocks, partition panels, and construction adhesives.
The announcement of this project came following a meeting held on December 24 between Fergana regional governor Khayrullo Bozorov and a delegation from Shandong Weida. Governor Bozorov expressed his full support for the initiative, emphasizing the growing demand for construction materials both domestically and internationally.
The newly established plant, operating on a fully automated system, will initially focus on gas block production. However, future plans include expanding its product line to include adhesives and partition panels. This expansion is anticipated to generate over 100 employment opportunities, thereby positively impacting the region’s economic growth.
This strategic investment by Shandong Weida aligns with Uzbekistan’s broader economic objectives. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev recently reviewed plans for the socio-economic development of the Fergana region, highlighting the importance of attracting foreign investment. Local authorities have successfully secured agreements with Chinese investors totaling $1 billion and Korean investors amounting to $240 million. These collaborations aim to establish industrial zones covering 1,210 hectares, further solidifying the region’s industrial capacity.
The partnership between Shandong Weida Construction Machinery Co. Ltd. and Uzbekistan marks a significant milestone in fostering economic cooperation between the two nations. Through such initiatives, Uzbekistan continues to showcase its attractiveness as an investment destination, paving the way for sustainable economic growth and development.
