Chirchik Technical College to be Replaced by Chinese University Branch

The Chirchik city administration has addressed concerns raised on social media regarding the demolition of the former technical college building located at 2 Zakovat Street in Chirchik. Officials stated that the building had reached an emergency state and the Tashkent Regional Construction Inspection approved its demolition.
The abandoned building has deteriorated significantly over the years and as part of a presidential decree, it has been designated for the establishment of a branch of a prestigious Chinese higher education institution. A limited liability company named “Chirchik Innovation Gymnasium” has been established by the Chinese company Soniya Group Limited to carry out the “Modern Gymnasium Establishment” project. This initiative involves a $15 million investment in direct foreign funding, with a focus on creating over 100 new jobs and providing high-quality education to 500 children from Chirchik families.
Due to the poor condition of the building, Chirchik Innovation Gymnasium LLC requested its demolition, which was officially approved by the Regional Inspection for Control in the Field of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Tashkent Region through letter No. 01/123 dated January 16, 2025.
Furthermore, the former technical college building is not listed in the National Register of Immovable Cultural Heritage Objects, as outlined in Cabinet of Ministers’ Resolution No. 846 dated October 4, 2019.
Addressing previous rumors, the Cadastre Agency clarified that foreign nationals are prohibited from owning land in Uzbekistan, refuting claims of land being sold to foreigners in the country.
