Cholpon-Ata hosts 2nd stage of Sambo World Cup
The Sambo World Cup’s Second Stage Kicks Off in Cholpon-Ata City
The highly anticipated second stage of the Sambo World Cup has officially begun in Cholpon-Ata city. The competitions will feature four disciplines: men’s sport sambo, men’s combat sambo, women’s sport sambo, and women’s combat sambo.
Each participating country has the opportunity to send two athletes to compete in each weight category of every discipline at the World Cup.
Today, on August 15th, the competitions will include events for men in sport sambo across weight categories of 58, 64, 71, 79, 88, 98, and 98+ kilograms, as well as combat sambo, and women in weight categories of 59, 65, and 72 kilograms.
Over 250 athletes from 14 different countries are participating in these prestigious competitions. Notably, Sambo wrestlers from Russia are competing in all tournaments, except for national ones, under the name FIAS-1 with the flag and anthem of the International Sambo Federation.
