CHP Chairman Özel Canceled Rally to Mourn Martyrs

CHP General Minister Özgür Özel Criticizes Ruling Party’s Response to Soldier Deaths
Following an extraordinary Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting, CHP General Minister Özgür Özel held a press conference to address the recent deaths of 9 soldiers in northern Iraq. Özel expressed outrage over the 25 soldiers who have been martyred in the past month, condemning the lack of action taken by the ruling party to prevent these tragedies.
Özel emphasized that 23 of the 25 soldiers who were recently martyred were from the Claw-Lock Operation region, which has experienced multiple attacks in recent months. He criticized the government’s handling of these attacks and demanded answers to important questions regarding the safety and protection of soldiers in the region.
He revealed that despite asking specific questions to the government about necessary measures to prevent attacks and protect soldiers, the CHP has not received a single response for 18 days. This lack of communication and transparency has further fueled the frustration and anger of the CHP towards the ruling party.
In addition to addressing the soldier deaths, Özel also highlighted the dire living conditions of the families of martyrs, specifically mentioning the situation of the earthquake victim family of Kahramanmaraş Martyr Contracted Private Müslüm Özdemir. He condemned the government’s failure to provide adequate and promised housing for the families of martyrs.
Furthermore, Özel announced the cancellation of a planned candidate promotion meeting and CHP rally in light of the funerals of the martyrs. He emphasized the party’s decision to mourn the loss of the soldiers and called for a National Security Policies Advisory Board meeting to discuss the current situation in detail.
Overall, Özgür Özel’s press conference shed light on the CHP’s frustration and disappointment with the ruling party’s response to the recent soldier deaths and highlighted the party’s commitment to conducting necessary work and conveying warnings going forward.
