CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Ozgur Celik testifies in latest Turkish news
Republican People’s Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Ozgur Celik and Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu were at the center of an investigation on January 31st in Istanbul. Imamoglu testified in court at Caglayan due to the incidents, which led to an investigation being launched.
The courtroom was surrounded by a crowd during Imamoglu’s testimony, causing a brief altercation between the police and the gathered crowd. Ozgur Celik, who was also present outside the courthouse that day, is facing accusations of defying the law regarding gatherings and demonstrations by resisting against the police.
Today, CHP member Steel also testified as part of the ongoing investigation. The interrogation lasted for an hour before Steel left the courthouse premises.
