CHP’s Can Atalay Files Application to Constitutional Court – Latest News from Turkey

The Republican People’s Party (CHP) has taken action to challenge the motion for the removal of a member of parliament, citing violations of the Constitution. According to CHP spokesperson Günaydın, the decision to remove a member of parliament goes against Articles 84 and 95 of the Constitution, as well as the Parliament’s Rules of Procedure.
The party has submitted a petition to the Constitutional Court, requesting the decision to be declared null and void and suspended. They have emphasized the urgency of the matter, noting that the court has 7 to 10 days to respond to the petition. The CHP expects the court to make a decision within 15 days and communicate it to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
It is clear that the CHP is determined to challenge what they believe to be a breach of the Constitution, and they are seeking a swift resolution from the Constitutional Court.
