Chris Hemsworth Calls his Performance in Thor: Love and Thunder “Stupid”

Chris Hemsworth Admits “Thor: Love and Thunder” was “Too Silly” After Criticism

Chris Hemsworth has addressed the mixed reactions to “Thor: Love and Thunder,” admitting in a recent interview with GQ that the fourth solo film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) had “too much fun” and was “ridiculous.”

Directed by Taika Waititi, who also directed “Thor: Ragnarok,” the highly anticipated movie completed its box office run with $750 million worldwide, making it one of the lowest critically rated Marvel movies due to the visual effects and tone of the film.

Hemsworth, who portrays the titular character, revealed that he heard a lot of criticism from his children’s friends, who said, “There were a lot of jokes this time, the action sequences were good but the VFX wasn’t that good.”

Criticism of the MCU wasn’t limited to just children, as renowned filmmakers Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino have also expressed their negative opinions about the movies. Hemsworth called it “depressing” to hear that his heroes were not fans of the MCU, but emphasized his happiness in being “part of something that keeps people in movie theaters.”

Hemsworth will next be seen in “Extraction 2,” set to release on Netflix on June 16.
