Chris Pine Stars in “Poolman” – First Trailer Released
Chris Pine, best known for his acting roles in blockbuster movies like Star Trek and Wonder Woman, has taken on a new challenge by stepping behind the camera for his directorial debut, “Poolman.”
In this mystery-comedy film, Pine not only directs but also stars as Darren Barrenman, a struggling dreamer who spends his days maintaining a pool at a Tiki-themed apartment block in Los Angeles. Barrenman’s mundane life takes a thrilling turn when he uncovers the biggest water robbery in Los Angeles history. Determined to get to the bottom of the crime, he forms alliances with various intriguing characters including a seductress, corrupt city officials, Hollywood has-beens, and mysterious figures.
The star-studded cast of “Poolman” includes acting legends like Danny DeVito, Annette Bening, Jennifer Jason Leigh, DeWanda Wise, Ray Wise, Juliet Mills, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Clancy Brown. The screenplay for the film was co-written by Pine and Ian Gotler, with production handled by Patty Jenkins and Stacey Sher.
While “Poolman” had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival last year, it received mixed reviews from critics.
