
CIS Foreign Ministers to Discuss Draft Joint Statements in Bishkek

Next Meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers to be Held in Bishkek
The Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will convene in Bishkek on October 12 for their next meeting. This year, the CIS is being chaired by the Kyrgyz Republic. The forthcoming meeting will address a wide range of cooperation areas within the organization.
The draft agenda comprises 20 issues, covering various aspects of cooperation within the CIS. The heads of foreign affairs agencies are expected to exchange views on current international and regional topics, as well as discuss the possibilities for further multifaceted interaction within the CIS format. The upcoming chairmanship of Russia, starting from January 1, 2024, will also be taken into consideration.
One of the aims of the meeting is to strengthen foreign policy coordination among the member states. The ministers will approve draft joint statements on significant international matters, which will be presented to the leaders of the CIS countries on October 13. Additionally, a plan for inter-Ministry of Foreign Affairs consultations for the year 2024 will be approved.
The meeting will prioritize enhancing cooperation in law enforcement, culture, and humanitarian spheres, as well as expanding the CIS’s international relations. In line with the Year of the Russian Language as a language of interethnic communication, declared within the CIS this year, decisions will be made to promote its popularity both within the Commonwealth and worldwide, according to the Information and Analytical Department of the CIS Executive Committee.
