City Reconciliation and Corruption Investigation: Who was Detained?
Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office recently made a statement regarding an investigation into corruption and urban reconciliation. According to the statement, witnesses testified that certain individuals, including CHP “IMM President Imamoglu,” were involved in forcing businessmen to give money, leading to unfair gains through trading activities.
Imamoglu was identified as the leader of a criminal organization, which included individuals associated with him from various municipal departments. The organization allegedly engaged in bribery and fraud to secure contracts and advance payments from companies working with the municipality.
Furthermore, it was revealed that personal data of citizens was obtained by the organization to maintain its operations. Several companies receiving tenders from the municipality were found to be involved in unlawful activities related to financial transactions.
In a separate investigation related to terrorism, the Prosecutor’s Office mentioned connections to the PKK/KCK terrorist organization and activities aimed at influencing local elections. Members of political organizations were also implicated in supporting terrorist activities through alliances and media outlets.
As a result of these investigations, several suspects, including prominent figures such as Imamoglu and municipal officials, were taken into custody. The suspects are currently undergoing legal procedures at the Istanbul Police Department’s Vatan Campus.
