Climbing to the Top: A Journey of Pride and Perseverance

Turkey’s defense industry continues to make strides in the global market, as evidenced by a recent report highlighting the country’s achievements. According to the report, the United Arab Emirates is the top customer for Ankara, with Dubai’s management accounting for 15 percent of total sales. Qatar and Pakistan follow closely behind, with 13 percent and 11 percent shares, respectively.

In addition, Turkey has emerged as the fourth-largest supplier of weapons to the Sub-Saharan Africa region, trailing behind France. The country’s sales of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to Africa, as well as Nigeria’s order for six Atak attack helicopters, have garnered attention in the industry.

Furthermore, four Turkish companies have secured spots in the list of the world’s top 100 defense companies, with Aselsan, Baykar, TUSAŞ (Turkish Aerospace Industries), and Roketsan ranking 60th, 76th, 82nd, and 100th, respectively.

Turkey’s steady climb in the global rankings has seen the country move up to the 11th position, just below major exporters like the USA, France, and Russia. As Turkey continues to reduce its imports of defense products, its arms exports are on the rise, with significant sales to countries like Spain, Italy, and Russia.

At the forefront of Turkey’s defense exports are its advanced unmanned aerial vehicles, including the TB2 Bayraktar, Akıncı, Anka, and Aksungur models. The country has also exported a range of land vehicles, naval platforms, attack helicopters, and drones to various countries worldwide.

In a milestone achievement, the Bayraktar TB2 armed unmanned aerial vehicle has been exported to 33 countries, with the latest recipient being the South Asian nation of Maldives. Undoubtedly, Turkish defense industry company Baykar has been a driving force behind many of these successful exports.

With Baykar leading the way in defense and aerospace exports, other Turkish companies such as TAI, MKE, TEI, BMC, Roketsan, and Aselsan have also made significant contributions to the sector. Overall, Turkey’s defense industry is poised for continued growth and success on the global stage.
