Strengthening Diplomatic Ties: Colombia’s Ambassador Presents Credentials to Turkmenistan
On April 28, 2025, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Myakhri Byashimova, welcomed Colombia’s newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador, Ector Isiro Arenas Neur, during a significant meeting in Ashgabat. This occasion marked the presentation of the ambassador’s credential copies, symbolizing the formal initiation of his diplomatic mission.
Deputy Minister Byashimova extended heartfelt congratulations to Ambassador Arenas Neur on his appointment and expressed the Turkmen government’s readiness to support and facilitate his work in strengthening bilateral relations. The discussions centered around identifying key areas for collaboration, underlining both nations’ commitment to fostering constructive dialogue on the international stage.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to explore the possibility of establishing political consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Colombia. Furthermore, the participants deliberated on forming an inter-parliamentary friendship group between the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the Congress of Colombia, aiming to enhance parliamentary ties and mutual cooperation.
Deputy Minister Byashimova emphasized the importance of Colombian participation in the upcoming International Forum scheduled for December 12, 2025, in Ashgabat. This event, part of the International Year of Peace and Trust, also commemorates the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.
As the meeting concluded, Ambassador Arenas Neur pledged to exert every effort to strengthen the cooperation between Turkmenistan and Colombia, signaling a promising future for diplomatic and bilateral relations between the two nations.
