Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hüseyin Çavuş, recently announced a significant development in the agricultural sector. The General Agricultural Insurance Fund has stepped in to cover the losses incurred due to natural disasters that took place in the country between January 1 and February 15, resulting in substantial financial damages to plant and animal production areas.

This new regulation, which came into effect this year, marks a milestone for crop production in the country. All crop production is now guaranteed by the Agricultural Insurance Fund, ensuring financial protection for farmers in case of unforeseen events. The first payment has already been made for open vegetables and fruits, providing much-needed relief to affected farmers.

In line with the legal legislation of the General Agricultural Insurance Fund, a total of 3 million 400 thousand TL has been disbursed to 24 producers across 12 villages, covering an area of 171.25 decares. Minister Çavuş emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting all sectors of agriculture and ensuring justice and equality for all farmers.

Furthermore, the Minister highlighted the importance of ensuring the sustainability of production and the welfare of farmers. By extending the benefits of Direct Income Support and implementing a fair agricultural insurance system, the government aims to foster a thriving agricultural sector and support the livelihoods of producers.

This proactive approach by the General Agricultural Insurance Fund demonstrates the government’s dedication to safeguarding the agricultural industry and providing necessary support to farmers in times of need. With this new regulation in place, farmers can rest assured that their crops are protected, paving the way for a more secure and prosperous agricultural sector in the country.
