Completion of World-Class Addition Enhances National Athletics Center
A new world-class facility has been added to the brand new National Athletics Center in Budapest, which will serve as the main venue for the upcoming World Athletics Championships. According to Hungarian Nation, the training center of the complex has recently been completed and will be one of the main venues for warm-up and training for the championships.
The National Athletics Center is considered the most modern athletics facility in Central and Eastern Europe and is the new home of Hungarian athletics. The complex includes a 35,000-seat stadium, a green and wooded leisure park, a pedestrian and cycle bridge connecting Ferencváros to Csepel, and now the newly completed Athletics Training Center.
More than 200,000 athletes from over 200 countries are expected to arrive in Budapest to prepare for the World Championships, which will take place from August 19 to 27. The training center will host national and international stars, world and Olympic champions, world record holders, as well as their coaches, trainers, and support staff.
The training center features various amenities such as a time-measuring room, changing rooms, offices, sports storage, and a grandstand with a capacity of several hundred people. It also includes a 150-meter long climb, an important training area for sprinters. The standout feature of the facility is an indoor throwing ring, a rarity worldwide, which can be used year-round and provides a space for hammer throwers and discus throwers to practice on the open grass areas.
The Hungarian Championships will be held at the center this Friday and Saturday, giving Hungarian athletes the first opportunity to test out the new facility.
This state-of-the-art training center reinforces Budapest’s commitment to becoming a leading destination for international athletics events. With the completion of this facility, the National Athletics Center is fully equipped to host world-class competitions and provide top-notch training facilities for athletes from around the world.
