Conference on Democracy in Mongolia Held in Ulaanbaatar
The “Mongolia-An Oasis of Democracy” international conference has officially kicked off today in Ulaanbaatar, organized jointly by the Democratic Party of Mongolia and the International Democratic Union. During this conference, participants are engaging in discussions on various topics, including the achievements and future prospects of Mongolia’s 34-year journey towards democracy.
Notable guests at the conference include Tony Clement, a former Canadian federal politician and the former representative of the International Democratic Union; Michael Dust, the Chairman of the International Young Democrat Union; Philippa Broom, the former head of Foreign Affairs of the Conservative Party of England; Duncan MacFarlane, who has made multiple visits to Mongolia; and representatives from the International Republican Institute and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
The Democratic Party of Mongolia was selected to host this prestigious international event in recognition of its reputation, experience, and position of power on the global stage.
In a statement during the conference, Michael Dust, the President of the International Democratic Youth Union, emphasized the importance of Mongolia’s commitment to democracy, warning that any slip in the democracy index could potentially lead the country into authoritarian rule.
The discussions and interactions taking place at the “Mongolia-An Oasis of Democracy” conference are expected to shed light on the challenges and opportunities facing Mongolia as it continues to strive towards upholding democratic values and principles.
