Construction Begins on Kyrenia Bridge Junction (Yonca Junction)

Construction to Begin on Kyrenia Bridge Junction
The Ministry of Public Works and Transport has announced that construction work on the Kyrenia Bridge Junction, also known as the clover junction, is set to begin soon. This new junction will be located at the intersection of the Nicosia-Kyrenia Road and the Nicosia Northern Ring Road.

Traffic regulations will be implemented on the Nicosia-Kyrenia main road starting on Tuesday, January 7, to accommodate the construction of the intersection. The clover junction will have three legs, with two on the sides and one in the central median. During the construction works, vehicles traveling from Kyrenia to Nicosia will be redirected to the Nicosia Northern Ring Road, allowing them to access the city center or head towards Gönyeli via the Dikmen NEU Yonca Junction.

To ease traffic congestion during construction, alternative routes such as the Gönyeli Yenikent Circle and the Gönyeli entrance of the Nicosia-Güzelyurt road will be utilized starting from January 3. These junctions, which were approved in 2016, aim to provide better access to Gönyeli and improve traffic flow in the area.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport targets to complete the intersection arrangement works by April 1, allowing direct access from the Nicosia-Kyrenia main road to the Nicosia Northern Ring Road. With the completion of the Yonca junction and road construction works, travelers will have a faster and more efficient route between Nicosia and Kyrenia.

Drivers are advised to follow traffic signs and drive cautiously during construction. It is recommended to leave early, especially during rush hour, to avoid traffic congestion in the affected areas. By following these guidelines, motorists can ensure a smoother commute while construction is ongoing.
