Construction of $10 Billion Gas Chemical Complex Planned for Khorezm
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan recently visited the Khorezm region to kickstart the construction of the Voltalia photovoltaic power plant, signaling the country’s commitment to renewable energy. During his visit, the President also reviewed a number of investment projects set to transform the region’s economy.
With the help of foreign partners, a $1.5 billion investment package has been put together to support projects in various sectors such as mechanical engineering, chemical, food, textile, medical, and more. Among the 18 initiatives presented to the President, projects including the production of trucks, nickel sulfate for batteries, glass containers, and building materials were highlighted.
One notable project involves the construction of a plant for the production of small trucks, with investors from China and Bulgaria contributing to the estimated $80 million venture. The project aims to boost local manufacturing capabilities and create job opportunities in the region.
In addition to industrial projects, plans for new clinics, hotels, entertainment facilities, and investments in ecotourism and fisheries were discussed during the President’s visit. These initiatives are expected to generate thousands of new jobs and stimulate economic growth in Khorezm.
Furthermore, President Mirziyoyev met with the Ministry of Energy and Uzkimyosanoat to discuss the development of a large gas chemical complex in the region. This ambitious project, backed by a significant foreign investment, is projected to create 3,000 jobs and produce 2.5 million tons of products annually upon its completion in 2028.
The President’s visit to Khorezm underscores Uzbekistan’s commitment to fostering economic growth, attracting foreign investments, and creating sustainable development opportunities in the region. With a focus on diversifying industries and building a strong infrastructure, the country is poised for continued progress and success in the future.
