Construction of New School to Begin in Aikol Village, Batken Region

On January 20, 2024, the Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan announced the upcoming construction of a school for 225 students in Aikol village, Batken region. The total cost estimate for the construction of the new building is 70 million soms, which will be financed from the republican budget.

A capsule was laid at the construction site in a ceremony attended by Education Minister Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva. Currently, the school has 284 students, 34 teachers, and 11 technical workers, and the construction of the new building comes as a response to the recognition that the current educational institution is unsafe.

The history of the school dates back to 1963 when 8 March primary school was moved from the village of Gordoi to a two-room house for livestock breeders. Over the years, the school has undergone multiple expansions and transformations to accommodate the growing number of students.

The new construction aims to provide a safe and modern learning environment for the students of Aikol village and ensure access to quality education for the local community. With the development of the new school, the Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan is taking proactive steps to address the educational infrastructure needs in the region.
