Counterfeit Banknote Circulator Arrested in Tashkent

A man in Uzbekistan has been caught selling counterfeit 200,000-soum bills for 60,000 soums each. The suspect, identified as A.S., was reportedly caught by the PGO Department for Combating Economic Crimes and the Chilanzar district SSS Department. During the operation, authorities seized 10 fake 200,000-soum bills, 31 banknotes printed on A4 paper, a color printer, and other devices used in the production of counterfeit money. A criminal case has been initiated against A.S. under Article 176 of the Criminal Code, which addresses forgery of money, excise stamps, or securities and their transfer. The investigation is ongoing.
