Crackdown on Counterfeit and Substandard Medicines in Fergana

The State Security Service in the Fergana region recently made a significant breakthrough by dismantling a network involved in trafficking counterfeit and substandard medicines. The operation led to the discovery of an illegal home lab used for producing fake drugs.
A man in Kokand was apprehended while trying to load over 2,000 ampoules of “Midokalm” and hundreds of ampoules of L-Lysin Essinate, medications that lacked quality certificates and proper documentation, into his car. Law enforcement authorities seized these items along with packaging materials from the man’s house in the Shikorbegi neighborhood.
Upon searching the residence, authorities found a large quantity of counterfeit medicines, packaging materials, instruction leaflets, and other incriminating evidence. It was uncovered that the individual had set up an illegal workshop in collaboration with a criminal accomplice to produce these counterfeit medicines.
Expert analysis confirmed the seized medicines were indeed counterfeit and unfit for medical use in Uzbekistan. The total value of the counterfeit medicines was estimated at 78 million UZS. Despite the man’s previous involvement in similar illegal activities, he had committed another offense, leading to criminal proceedings being initiated against him.
In a separate case in Kokand, another individual was caught attempting to sell uncertified drugs. A search of his residence uncovered a large quantity of uncertified medicines, instruction leaflets, packaging boxes, and evidence linking him to a previously convicted accomplice. Pre-investigation procedures have been initiated against both individuals involved in this case.
These successful operations by the State Security Service highlight the commitment to combatting the production and trafficking of counterfeit and substandard medicines in the region, ensuring the safety and well-being of the population.
