Crackdown on Motorcycle Theft Rings
An operation conducted by Istanbul Police Department resulted in the arrest of three suspects who stole 14 motorcycles over the course of the last six months. The thieves broke the steering locks and obtained spare parts by smashing the motorcycles before selling them to others with fake license plates and documents.
The police department tracked the suspects to four different addresses in Ataşehir, Ümraniye, Kadıköy, Maltepe, and Sancaktepe. In the operation, the police seized 10 motorcycles, which were then returned to their rightful owners. Security cameras captured the moments of the thefts.
The suspects have been sent to court and will likely face charges for their actions. Motorcycle thefts are a common problem in many cities, and this operation demonstrates the police department’s commitment to combating this type of crime.
In a separate incident, fuel thieves were caught red-handed in another operation.
