Crime Boss Arrested in Aksy District of Jalal-Abad Region

The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) has reported the detention of a 57-year-old crime boss in Aksy district of Jalal-Abad region. The individual, identified as K.R., was apprehended following requests from local entrepreneurs who claimed he had defrauded them of $150,000 under the pretense of a joint coal business.

According to the SCNS, the residents of Kerben village in Aksy district had previously been convicted of robbery and had a history of fraudulent activities. After promising the businessmen a lucrative partnership in coal extraction and sales in October 2023, the man absconded with the funds and failed to deliver on his promises. When pressured by the entrepreneurs to fulfill his obligations, the crime boss resorted to threats of violence.

The arrest was made on May 22, and investigations are underway to determine the extent of his involvement in other similar crimes. The SCNS is urging individuals who may have fallen victim to similar schemes to come forward and assist in the ongoing probe.

The swift action taken by the authorities in response to the complaints from the affected entrepreneurs highlights the commitment of Kyrgyzstan’s law enforcement agencies to safeguarding the interests of its citizens and cracking down on criminal activities.
