CSTO Airbase Kant’s 20th Anniversary Celebrated with Glory at Ala-Archa State Residence

President Sadyr Japarov Congratulates Russian Airbase Personnel on 20th Anniversary
Bishkek – On October 13, 2023, President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan extended his congratulations to the personnel of the joint Russian military airbase in Kant on its 20th anniversary. The press service of the head of state reported this significant event.
President Japarov believes that the decision to include the airbase in the Collective Rapid Reaction Forces of the Central Asian Collective Security Region has significantly enhanced the potential of the CSTO. Furthermore, this inclusion has facilitated the development of a collective security system to effectively address current threats.
President Japarov emphasized that the establishment of the airbase was a necessary and timely measure. As part of the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian Collective Security Region, the Russian airbase has successfully tackled challenges and served as a deterrent against terrorist and extremist threats in the region.
“In general, the opening of the airbase has laid a solid foundation for strengthening military and military-technical cooperation. It has also led to the formulation of a comprehensive regulatory framework and the establishment of sustainable mechanisms for military interaction. Today, the joint Russian military base, along with its aviation component, is operating smoothly. Over the past 20 years, significant efforts have been made to develop infrastructure, enhance the combat capabilities, and provide suitable living conditions for its personnel,” concluded President Japarov.
The celebration to mark this milestone took place at the Ala-Archa state residence. Initially, it was planned for all events to be held at the airbase in Kant, and the Russian President Vladimir Putin was expected to attend. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the location was changed.
This anniversary serves as a testament to the successful collaboration between Kyrgyzstan and Russia in ensuring regional security. The joint Russian military airbase in Kant continues to play a crucial role in safeguarding the stability and well-being of the Central Asian region.
