CSTO Prepares Response Plan for Potential EU Troop Deployment in Ukraine

The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is prepared to offer various forms of assistance in response to the potential deployment of European Union troops to Ukraine, according to CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov.
In a recent statement, Tasmagambetov acknowledged that discussions regarding the deployment of military contingents to Ukraine have taken place in European capitals, but no official decision has been made. He emphasized that such a move could escalate tensions on a regional level, prompting the CSTO to intervene if necessary.
Tasmagambetov expressed concern that the populations of EU member states may not support their governments’ decision to send troops to Ukraine. He warned that even non-combat roles, such as policing or monitoring, could strain society if implemented.
The CSTO stands ready to provide assistance within the framework of its charter documents, pending approval from all member states. As tensions continue to simmer in Ukraine, the international community remains on high alert for potential military escalations.
