CTP Withdraws from Parliament Election Speaker Process – BRTK
CTP Deputies Leave Parliament Meeting, Refuse to Participate in Election of Parliamentary Speaker
The Republican Turkish Party (CTP) deputies have made a bold move by deciding to leave the Parliament after their group meeting. They announced that they will not take part in the process related to the election of the parliamentary speaker in the Assembly of the Republic.
CTP Chairman Tufan Erhürman made a statement to the press, emphasizing that the CTP will not act as a crutch for the UBP. He stated, “This movie finished last night. The will in the Parliament should be renewed as soon as possible.”
Erhürman also pointed out that Parliament Speaker Zorlu Töre did not call the Advisory Board to a meeting last night. He mentioned that Töre assumed the role of Acting President after President Ersin Tatar went abroad this morning. Erhürman emphasized that the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic, Fazilet Özdenefe, would not be making this call.
The decision of the CTP deputies to leave the Parliament showcases their commitment to their principles and their refusal to support certain actions within the government. It remains to be seen how this move will impact the political landscape in the coming days.
