Cultural event celebrating World Poetry Day held at Turkmen Embassy in Ukraine for Turkmen youth
Turkmen Youth and Diplomats in Ukraine Celebrate World Poetry Day
In honor of World Poetry Day, Turkmen youth in Ukraine joined diplomats from the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Kyiv to organize a special cultural event. The event featured traditional readings of poems by outstanding personalities and classics, highlighting the importance of poetic expression as a source of knowledge, wisdom, and peace.
This initiative is part of a larger effort to emphasize the power of the poetic word, especially in the current “International Year of Peace and Trust.” Participants, including Turkmen students, diaspora members in Ukraine and beyond, as well as Turkmen diplomats, read works such as “Turkmenistan – Homeland of Peace and Trust” and “Ocean of Wisdom of Magtymguly Pyragy,” penned by National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. These poems reflect principles of peace, neutrality, and brotherhood, as well as universal values that contribute to the well-being of society.
A key feature of the event was the multilingual reading of Magtymguly Fragi’s renowned poem “The Land of the Turkmen.” Participants recited this masterpiece in languages such as English, German, Ukrainian, Turkish, Azerbaijani, Romanian, Kazakh, Tajik, and their native tongues. The poem, which envisions the fate and prosperity of the Turkmen people, resonated with the audience across different cultures and languages.
Through this cultural gathering, participants underscored the significance of fostering friendship, brotherhood, and cultural exchange among diverse communities. The promotion of peace and trust, central themes in Turkmenistan’s “Concept of Activities and Priorities within the Framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust,” was a key focus of the event.
Overall, the celebration of World Poetry Day in Ukraine showcased the power of poetry to unite people, transcend language barriers, and promote mutual understanding and harmony.
