Cultural Year Kickoff in the Carpathian Basin

The Hungarian government is set to launch the Year of Culture in the Carpathian Basin in 2025, as announced by Minister of Culture and Innovation Balazs Hanko. This initiative will make all government-funded cultural programs available in the region, with the aim of promoting and celebrating Hungarian culture.
In addition to this, a new ticket called ‘Shared Treasure’ will be introduced from the summer, offering discounts to Hungarian families visiting cultural institutions. Furthermore, institutions such as the Hungarian Opera of Cluj-Napoca and the Csokonai National Theatre of Debrecen will be added to the category of culturally strategic institutions in 2025.
Meanwhile, Hungarian Speaker László Kövér marked Culture Day in Serbia by emphasizing the resilience and vitality of the Hungarian population in the Carpathian Basin. He highlighted the strong community of ethnic Hungarians in Vojvodina, who have thrived despite facing challenges throughout history.
Kövér also reiterated the Hungarian government’s commitment to supporting ethnic kin and ensuring that they can remain in their homeland. At the ceremony in Senta (Zenta), he was honored with the golden plaque of the Vojvodina Hungarian Cultural Association for his efforts to strengthen the ethnic Hungarian community and unity within the Hungarian nation.
Overall, the Year of Culture in the Carpathian Basin promises to be a celebration of Hungarian heritage and a testament to the enduring spirit of the Hungarian people in the region.
