Current Status of Dams in Istanbul: Is the City Remaining Thirsty? – Latest Update

Dam occupancy rates in Istanbul raise alarms as expected rainfall does not occur
According to CNN TÜRK reporter Serdar Er, the dam occupancy rates in Istanbul have started to raise alarms once again as the expected rainfall did not occur. Currently, the general dam occupancy rates in the city are at 41.7 levels.
There are ten dams in Istanbul, along with Melen and Yeşil Çay regulators, that are used to meet the water needs of the city. Recently, the situation at Alibey Dam has been closely monitored after the dam occupancy rates dropped to a critical level. Despite having some water in the dam, the levels have decreased compared to last year, with the occupancy rate at 25.12. It is important to note that Istanbul has a total of ten dams to manage its water supply.
In terms of the latest situation at other dams in Istanbul, Ömerli Dam is at 45.32, Darlık at 37.31, Elmalı at 83.54, and Terkos at 43.82, all falling below the 50 percent mark.
As the city faces challenges with water supply due to lower dam occupancy rates, authorities will need to take necessary measures to ensure the sustainable management of water resources in Istanbul.
