Customs officers arrest man smuggling $400 million worth of jewelry into Andijan
A recent incident at the “Dostlik” border customs post in Andijan, Uzbekistan has raised concerns regarding smuggling activities. Customs officers at the post became suspicious of a citizen named H.S. who had arrived from a neighboring country. As a result, they conducted a personal inspection of the individual.
During the inspection, customs officers made a startling discovery – H.S. had concealed 729.8 grams of jewelry, valued at 401 million UZS, inside the inner part of their clothing. What was particularly concerning was that the jewelry had not been declared or mentioned by H.S. during the customs officers’ inquiries.
Following the discovery, the customs authorities have initiated pre-investigation checks into the incident. This highlights the ongoing efforts of customs officials to combat smuggling activities at border crossings. Such incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of enforcing strict regulations to ensure the safety and security of the country’s borders.
