Dams in Istanbul: Yearly 2nd Best Occupancy Status

Istanbul finally got the rain it desperately needed after a prolonged dry spell. The water levels in the city’s dams had dropped dramatically, causing concern for the residents and authorities. However, the recent rainfall has brought some relief, and people are wondering whether the dams have been replenished.
According to the latest reports from CNN TÜRK Reporter Merve Tokaz and CNN TÜRK Meteorology Advisor Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen, the occupancy rates of the dams in Istanbul as of January 23 are as follows:
– 2019: 90.96%
– 2020: 54.41%
– 2021: 31.39%
– 2022: 53.45%
– 2023: 30.12%
– 2024: 63.17%
The data shows that the recent rain has indeed made a significant impact, as the dam occupancy rate has risen to 63.17%, marking a considerable improvement from the previous year. This is great news for the city, as the increased water levels will provide much-needed water supply for the residents and help alleviate concerns about water shortages.
The images accompanying the report also highlight the importance of water management and the economic benefits of water-related projects. One such example is the contribution of 130 billion TL to the country’s economy with the projects built on the Çoruh River, emphasizing the significance of water resources in driving economic growth and development.
Overall, the recent rain has brought some much-needed relief to Istanbul, and the improved dam occupancy rates are a positive sign for the city’s water supply. However, it is crucial for authorities and residents to continue practicing water conservation efforts to ensure sustainable utilization of this valuable resource.
