A Dead Dolphin Found on Pamucak Beach in Turkey

The Ecosystem Protection and Nature Lovers Association (EKODOSD) recently reported a disturbing discovery on Pamucak Beach – a dead dolphin was found washed ashore. Bahattin Driver, the president of the association, immediately visited the site to investigate the incident.

Upon examination, Driver identified the deceased dolphin as belonging to the “Stenella coeruleoalba” species. Surprisingly, there were no visible wounds or cuts on the animal, raising questions about the cause of death.

In a statement, Driver announced that tissue samples had been collected from the 2.7-meter-long dolphin and would be sent to the Turkish Marine Research Foundation for further analysis. This incident adds to the growing concern over dolphin deaths in Kuşadası Bay, with a total of 56 reported deaths in the area so far.

Driver highlighted the urgent need for a rehabilitation center in Turkey to address such cases effectively. He emphasized that some dolphins might be succumbing to diseases due to the lack of proper care and support. As investigations continue, environmentalists and marine experts are eager to uncover the underlying reasons behind these tragic incidents and prevent future losses of marine life.
