
Deadly Fight: Three Killed, Many Injured in Girl’s Brawl – Latest News in Turkey

Three people were killed and 10 others were injured in a violent clash between two families in Mardin. The tragic incident took place on Saturday evening at 23.00 in the rural Gökçe neighborhood of Artuklu district. The altercation between the Öncel and Erboğa families escalated into an armed confrontation over a dispute regarding the marriage proposal of a girl.
The fight, involving the use of pistols and rifles, resulted in 10 individuals sustaining injuries. Emergency services and gendarmerie units rushed to the scene and the wounded were promptly transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel at Kızıltepe State Hospital, Abdulbaki Öncel, his son Özcan, and his nephew Abdulkadir Öncel succumbed to their injuries.
The funerals of the deceased were carried out following the completion of autopsy procedures at the hospital morgue. The devastated families laid their loved ones to rest in the Gökçe neighborhood last night. Meanwhile, seven individuals receiving treatment in hospital remain in critical condition, with one person still facing a life-threatening situation.
In connection with the incident, a total of 24 suspects have been detained as part of the ongoing investigation. Law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing the case and working to bring all those responsible to justice. This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of resorting to violence to settle disputes and highlights the importance of peaceful conflict resolution.
