Death of Lisbon Ambassador Murat Karagöz
Former Turkish Ambassador to Lisbon, Murat Karagöz, passed away on June 30, 2023, due to a heart attack while on holiday in Fethiye, Muğla. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed his condolences and shared his sadness over the loss of Ambassador Karagöz.
In a statement, Çavuşoğlu said, “We are saddened by the loss of our Lisbon Ambassador Murat Karagöz, with whom we worked closely during my ministry. I share the pain of his precious family and offer patience and condolences to his relatives.”
Ambassador Murat Karagöz had a heart attack while swimming in Ölüdeniz Neighborhood Faralya Bay. He was immediately taken to the hospital but unfortunately passed away there.
Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu highlighted Ambassador Karagöz’s positive qualities, describing him as a smiling, hardworking, and self-sacrificing individual. The former Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his deep sympathy for Ambassador Karagöz’s family and wished them patience and strength during this difficult time.
