Death toll in Ankara accident rises to 7
A tragic accident occurred yesterday on the road between Haymana and Konya, involving two vehicles colliding head-on. The accident, which involved Muhammet Emin Özdemir’s 31 GE 368 plate car and Abdullah Özgen’s 06 EPP 091 plate car, resulted in the deaths of 4 individuals. Among the casualties were 9-month-old Duru Ozdemir, Ayse Ozdemir, Görkem Yildirim (6), Arif Yildirim (72), and the drivers of the vehicles. Additionally, Yusuf Ozdemir, Neriman Yildirim, and Arif Yildirim, who share the same name as the deceased, sustained injuries in the accident.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals at Bilkent City Hospital in Ankara, Yusuf Ozdemir succumbed to his injuries earlier today. The treatment for the other two injured individuals is ongoing.
A funeral prayer was held at the Katrancı Neighborhood Cemetery in Haymana for the deceased Abdullah Özgen, Arif Yıldırım, and Görkem Yıldırım. The ceremony was attended by family members and citizens, and three individuals were laid to rest amidst tears.
Yilmaz Yildirim, the nephew of Arif Yildirim, expressed his sorrow over the premature loss of Görkem Yıldırım in the accident, emphasizing that they were en route to a hospital in Ankara for a check-up. He described the incident as a tragedy and conveyed his deep sadness.
