Debrecen Zoo Welcomes Adorable Donkey Foal, Maja

Debrecen Zoo in Hungary is celebrating the birth of a healthy Parlagian donkey foal named Maja. Born just a week after the 65th anniversary of the zoo’s opening, Maja’s birth was especially timely as it fell on World Donkey Day. Visitors were lucky enough to witness the foal being born and take in the sight of her first steps. The Debrecen Zoo is home to the only native donkey breed in Hungary, and the conservation of this breed is highly important to the zoo. Donkeys are not only running freely in the nearby wildlife garden but are also used to pull chariots called Csacsifogat that are launched on special occasions. The zoo has welcomed other Parlagian donkey births in recent years.
