December Cost of Living Rate Increases by 1.10 Percent – BRTK
The latest data from the Statistical Institute reveals that the cost of living rate for December 2024 was recorded at 1.10 percent, with a total cost of living increase of 53.29 percent for the year. This data was published in the “December 2024 Results of the 2015=100 Base Year Consumer Price Index” report.
In terms of specific products, zucchini was identified as the most expensive item in December, while parsley was noted as the cheapest. Prices for zucchini saw a significant increase of 171.22 percent, followed by artichokes at 154.38 percent and eggplant at 107.87 percent. On the other hand, prices for parsley experienced the highest decrease at 36.42 percent, along with flower cabbage at 35.94 percent and broccoli at 35.81 percent.
Looking at main expenditure groups, the food and non-alcoholic beverages category saw the highest increase of 2.49 percent compared to the previous month. Other notable increases were seen in miscellaneous goods and services at 2.23 percent, clothing and shoes at 2.03 percent, and restaurants and hotels at 1.42 percent.
Overall, prices for 430 item types covered in the index increased, while prices for 128 item types decreased compared to the previous month. The data provides valuable insights into the cost of living and consumer price trends in December 2024.
