Decision Made on Gorilla Name Suggestions Collected by Ministry

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has announced that a final decision has been made for the name of the gorilla cub that was seized in a cage-type cargo originating from Nigeria. The baby gorilla, which was on the verge of extinction, has been under the care of the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks in Istanbul, where his health condition has been improving.
After receiving over 20 thousand name suggestions for the gorilla cub on social media, including names like ‘Fişek’, ‘Mahzun’, and ‘Garip’, the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Family and Social Services also joined in with their name suggestions. The Ministry of Commerce proposed the name ‘KIM’ as a tribute to their Illegal Intelligence Directorate, while the Ministry of Family and Social Services shared a heartwarming letter from a child in foster care suggesting the name ‘Hope’.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has announced that the final decision on the name of the gorilla cub will be made through a voting process. The most suggested names will be put to a vote, and the name with the highest number of votes will become the official name of the baby gorilla.
This heartwarming story of community involvement and care for a rescued baby gorilla highlights the importance of conservation efforts and the role that social media and public participation can play in protecting endangered species. Stay tuned for the announcement of the final name for this adorable gorilla cub!
