Declaration of Damaged Villages and Regions in 2022-2023 Production Year by Council of Ministers

The General Agricultural Insurance Fund Detection and Evaluation Committee of the Council of Ministers, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources has completed its observations, examinations, and weighings in the areas where grain and legume forage crops are planted. The official rainfall information received from the Meteorology Department was also taken into account.

Based on these findings, the committee has declared the regions affected by drought in the 2022 – 2023 production year. A total of 4483 producers will be compensated with a total of 360 Million TL for Drought Compensation.

The compensation amounts have been determined based on the severity of the drought in different regions. For areas with 50 percent drought, 412 TL per acre will be paid for 227,800 decares of land in 173 villages. For areas with 70 percent drought, 618 TL per acre will be paid for 266,658 decares of land. Furthermore, for areas with 90 percent drought, 848 TL per acre will be paid for the 664,320 decare area.

In addition to the drought compensation, a yield loss payment of 200 TL per acre will be made for producers who did not receive compensation payments from the General Agricultural Insurance Fund due to any natural disaster in the 2022 – 2023 production year.

This decision aims to support and provide relief to producers who have suffered losses due to adverse weather conditions. It is a crucial step in helping the agricultural sector recover and thrive in the face of challenging circumstances.
