Decrease in Prices of Food Products in Tashkent Supermarkets

The prices of various food products have seen a decrease in minimum prices, according to the latest analysis by experts at the Institute for Macroeconomic and Regional Studies. The study focused on 21 food items in major supermarkets in Tashkent in February 2025.

Among the key findings, it was observed that the minimum prices of 6 products had dropped compared to the previous month. Potatoes saw a significant decrease of 26.1%, followed by red carrots at 11.3%, onions at 8.2%, eggs at 7.8%, milk at 0.9%, and sugar at 0.4%. The drop in potato prices was attributed to imports from Pakistan, following a price hike last month.

On the other hand, prices of 8 products registered an increase, with white cabbage showing the most notable rise due to seasonal factors. Cucumber prices also went up, although they are still 30.0% cheaper than the same period last year.

For 7 products, the prices remained unchanged, including wheat flour, rice, buckwheat, pasta, apples, bananas, and chicken fillet.

The analysis was carried out based on data collected between January 9 and February 6, 2025. These price fluctuations will have an impact on consumers and the overall food market, shaping purchasing decisions in the coming months.
