Defense Forces Welcomes New Lynx Combat Vehicle

Hungarian Defense Forces Bolster Capabilities with New Lynx KF-41 Armored Vehicle

The Kinizsi Pál 30th Armored Infantry Brigade in Hódmezővásárhely, southern Hungary, has recently received a new Lynx KF-41 armored fighting vehicle. This modern combat vehicle is deemed a pivotal asset in enhancing the Hungarian Defense Forces, significantly increasing the safety and operational effectiveness of its personnel.

To ensure the proficient use of this advanced equipment, training sessions for operators will be ongoing, as announced by the brigade on its social media platforms.

The Hungarian Defense Forces are set to receive a total of 46 Lynx vehicles manufactured by Rheinmetall by 2025. They are part of a larger plan wherein the military will acquire 172 vehicles by 2030, all produced domestically through a joint venture with Rheinmetall.

The Lynx KF-41 was the first combat vehicle to be purchased by the Hungarian military, with the initial delivery occurring at the end of 2022. Since then, additional units have been consistently delivered, including those produced at the new Hungarian factory in Zalaegerszeg, which began construction in 2020 and launched production in 2023. The first locally manufactured Lynx was completed in 2024.

One of the standout features of the Lynx is its main armament, which includes a 30 mm automatic cannon capable of firing programmable ammunition up to a range of 3,000 meters. The vehicle offers robust protection, effectively shielding against the armor-piercing rounds of heavy machine guns and shrapnel from 155 mm artillery shells within a certain radius. Furthermore, the Lynx is designed to remain functional even after withstanding an explosion from a 10-kilogram mine underneath it.

As Hungary continues to modernize its military capabilities, the arrival of the Lynx KF-41 signifies a crucial step in bolstering national defense and ensuring the readiness of its armed forces.
