Azerbaijan Minister of Defense Chairs Official Meeting
On April 5, an official meeting was convened under the leadership of Azerbaijan Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov. The meeting, held in a video teleconference format, involved Deputy Ministers, Commanders of types of troops (forces), Chiefs of Main Departments, Departments and Services, Commanders of army corps and formations, as well as Heads of the National Defense University and subordinate educational institutions.
The meeting began with a moment of remembrance for the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence and sovereignty of the country. Minister Hasanov emphasized the importance of army development as a priority issue, reflecting the directives of President Ilham Aliyev to enhance service and combat activities of the units.
The Supreme Commander-in-Chief commended the professionalism of the Azerbaijan Army during the 44-day Patriotic War and subsequent military operations, while setting new responsibilities for further development. The meeting discussed the current operational situation along the Azerbaijani-Armenian border, addressing recent shelling and reconnaissance activities by the opposing side.
Specific tasks were assigned to officials to ensure the readiness of Azerbaijan Army units to respond swiftly to any provocation, with an emphasis on heightened vigilance during combat duty organization. The meeting also reviewed the positive outcomes of successful reforms within the army, emphasizing the importance of enhancing combat capabilities through sustained military exercises and technological innovations.
Other topics discussed included the staffing of units with qualified personnel, improvement of knowledge and skills of reservists, social and living conditions of personnel, and ongoing educational events for military personnel. The Minister expressed confidence that the Azerbaijan Army will continue to fulfill its duties and justify the trust placed in it by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
