Our Lungs Have Been Burning for 4 Days in Denizli… Statement from GDF
The General Directorate of Forestry (OGM) has issued a statement regarding the ongoing wildfire in Denizli, revealing the extent of the firefighting efforts. The fire has been raging for four days, with a large team of personnel and resources dedicated to containing it.
According to OGM, 6 helicopters, 25 water trucks, 8 work machines, and a total of 715 personnel have been deployed to tackle the fire. Despite the challenging terrain in some areas, ground crews are working tirelessly to create firebreaks using hand tools. Where ground intervention is not feasible, aircraft are being used to drop water and work machines are clearing paths for further suppression efforts.
In a social media post, OGM assured the public that the fire does not currently pose a threat to residential areas. They also clarified that some images circulating on social media claiming to be of the Denizli fire are not accurate. The firefighting teams remain on high alert to prevent any escalation of the situation.
As the firefighting efforts continue in Denizli, the public is urged to remain vigilant and follow any instructions from authorities. The brave men and women battling the blaze are working tirelessly to protect the region and its residents from further harm.
