Deputy’s Son Released from Custody in Corruption Scandal at Customs

The son of Kyrgyz MP Nadira Narmatova, who had been held in custody on suspicion of corruption, has been released. The Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek made the decision to release him under written undertaking not to leave the city. The investigator filed a petition to change the measure of restraint to the court, but no details were given as to why. The deputy’s son worked as a Chief Inspector of the Customs Clearance Group and was caught in Osh region before being transferred to a pre-trial detention centre in Bishkek. His release came as a surprise, and sources say he did not sign any plea agreements.
