Turkey Prepares for Presidential and Parliamentary Elections with Election Day Bans
As Turkey prepares for the Presidential and Parliamentary Elections tomorrow, officials have announced a number of measures to ensure the smooth running of the elections.
Voting will commence at 08:00 and end at 17:00. However, election day bans will come into effect starting in the morning. One such prohibition will be the temporary sale of alcoholic beverages, which will be prohibited from 06:00 to 24:00 at night. Public entertainment venues such as cafes, coffee shops, and internet cafes will remain closed on election day. Only restaurants that are entertainment venues can serve meals, while weddings can only take place after 18:00.
Furthermore, in settlements, only those responsible for security and order will be permitted to carry weapons on election day. The propaganda ban will take effect from 18:00 today and continue for 24 hours. This includes news and broadcasts containing propaganda and will remain in place until the polls close tomorrow. Between 18:00 and 21:00, only news and communiqués from the Supreme Board of Elections will be published, after 21:00, all broadcasts will be free. However, the Supreme Board of Elections reserves the right to change this time nearer the time.
These measures are aimed at ensuring that tomorrow’s elections are conducted in an orderly and democratic fashion, with everyone given equal opportunity to vote.
