Unreported historical coins found in Bukhara Airport
During a routine inspection at the “Bukhara Airport” border customs post, a citizen traveling on the “Bukhara-Vnukovo” flight was found to be in possession of 96 historical coins that were not listed in any relevant documents. These coins were discovered during the scanning process by the inspection complex and were not declared by the traveler during the verbal inquiry.
According to reports, the cultural heritage department of Bukhara region has appointed an artistic expertise to determine the level of antiquity of these numismatic items. It has also been confirmed that an investigation is currently underway in connection with this case.
The incident has raised concerns regarding the export of cultural assets, as per the Law “On Import and Export of Cultural Assets”, it is prohibited to export numismatic items minted over 50 years from the territory of Uzbekistan.
The discovery of these unreported historical coins highlights the importance of strict adherence to the regulations governing the import and export of cultural assets.
